Catalytic Decomposition of MEA-CO2 Complex for Low Temperature Regeneration of Spent MEA

We have developed a novel catalytic process for enhanced desorption of CO₂ from a spent monoethanolamine (MEA) solution at lower temperatures than conventional methods. Low temperature was achieved by adding an acidic material to the MEA solution during its regeneration. An acidic material is hypothesized to catalyze carbamate break-down reaction.
