From carboxylic acid feeds, desirable products such as hydrocarbons can be obtained through hydrodeoxygenation.  At 200°C the selectivities of Pt over both carbon and MWCNTs, Rh/C, Pd/C and Ir/C are towards C2 products, thus making decarbonylation/decarboxylation the main paths. Ru and Ni yielded significant amounts of methane through cracking.
