Hydrodeoxygenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural to dimethyl furan (DMF) was studied in continuous flow reactor. In contrast to batch reactor, much higher DMF selectivity and yield were obtained, due to better reaction time control to prevent undesired side products. Indicates the importance of choosing the correct type of reactor for this reaction.
