The dehydration of primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols was studied on different metal oxides using ab-initio methods. Our work revealed strong correlations between oxide properties and the dehydration barriers. Dehydration structure activity relationships were developed to screen the performance of various metal oxides and alcohols, in agreement with experimental observations.
