Development of robust bio-oil hydrotreating catalysts is a key challenge for the biomass thermochemical conversion platform. In this contribution, a two-step process using novel reduced metal catalysts showed promising performance for bio-oil hydrotreating to fuels. Several critical factors of catalysts effect their activity and stability.
