To upgrade coal-derived syngas, novel catalysts are under development to allow for high temperature conversion of methane, tars, light hydrocarbons, and decompose ammonia in the presence of contaminants, particularly high concentrations of H2S (35-500 ppm). Experiments are focused on lab-scale synthesis, characterization, and testing of high temperature steam reforming catalysts.
