In this work we present a study of a series of solid solutions of the form of CexFe1-xO2 (x<1). Creating neutral oxygen vacancies, results in lattice deformation which in turn decreases the energy needed for the reduction of Ce4+ (upon the removal of oxygen atoms from the lattice).
