Enhancing activity through adjusting the steric and chemical environment of active sites

The unsurpassed reactivity of enzymes is usually explained by the specific interaction of molecules at the catalytic center, which is surrounded by a very specific environment.  The lecture will describe approaches to match such specificity with inorganic oxides and nanoparticles of metals by tailoring the environment around the active site.
