Keynote

Careful control over catalyst synthesis allowed the development of RuPd/TiO2 and Ru/H-ZSM5 as excellent catalysts for the selective hydrodeoxygenation of levulinic acid (LA) to the biobased chemicals γ-valerolactone and pentanoic acid, respectively. Insights into the beneficial effects of RuPd nanoalloying and the synergy between Ru/H-ZSM5 hydrogenation/acid sides are provided.
