Catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons over zeolites follows many parallel and serial reaction pathways.  We utilize differential scanning calorimetry to measure the overall reaction enthalpy of light alkane cracking over HZSM-5 and compare the deviation to the theoretical central cracking enthalpy in order to determine enthalpic contributions from secondary reactions.
