Operando Molecular Spectroscopy during Catalytic Biomass Pyrolysis

Well-defined supported Al₂O₃/SiO₂ catalysts were employed for catalytic biomass pyrolysis to determine correlations between specific value-added chemicals, acid site nature, and surface AlO_x active site coordination. Operando molecular spectroscopy experiments with these catalysts were able to simultaneously characterize the catalyst and reaction intermediates and track the evolution of 40+ major products.
