Naphthalene and indole present in petroleum and fossil fuels form stoichiometric adsorption complexes with A100 MOF. The π-π bonding in the complexes was demonstrated by molecular spectroscopy and DFT. H-bonding is present between indole and COO group of the linker. Hydrated A100 shows the higher adsorption of indole than naphthalene.
