Application of Fe catalysts for Fischer Tropsch synthesis to make lower olefins relevant for industry is hindered by catalyst particle disintegration through carbon deposition. Tapered element oscillating microbalance measurements demonstrate that activation conditions have impact on catalyst performance with tree out of five methods bringing about reduction in carbon deposition.
