Interlayer expansion of the layered silicate RUB-36 can be used to incorporate a variety of catalytic functions by using different metal salts or functionalized silylating agents as source for the additional T-atom that connects the silicate layers. The obtained catalysts can be applied in e.g. alkylations, transfer hydrogenations, and tetrahydropyranylations.
