O-M-408-12 Effect of Water Treatment on Sn-BEA Zeolite: Origin of 960 Cm-1 FTIR Peak

We determined that the 960cm-1 IR adsorption band frequently observed in the spectra of hydrophobic Sn-BEA zeolite is not associated with Sn framework atoms in the zeolite but with silanol groups which form rapidly upon contact with water. These groups could affect the activity under typical aqueous phase reaction conditions.
