P-Mo-B-162 Incremental Kinetic Synthesis: A New Approach to Complexity for Industrial Catalyst Development

A new, top-down approach to catalyst complexity is presented where iterative cycles of ultrasparse surface composition modification are combined with intrinsic kinetic testing of industrial catalyst particles.  New instrumentation and preliminary results of selective oxidation using the VPO catalyst demonstrate the evolution of kinetic properties with respect to surface composition.
