A series of Ni-doped ceria nanorods have been synthesized for the first time by a simple hydrothermal method. An enhanced oxygen storage capacity and activity for CO oxidation was achieved due to the combination of specific composition and 1D morphology. The structural aspects were also characterized by several techniques.
