Understanding the mechanisms by which lignin-derived compounds react in the presence of zeolites is important to enhancing aromatic yields and reducing coke generation. In this study we analyze catalytic pyrolysis of phenol and anisole (representing major lignin functionalities) using ZSM5 zeolites to understand the steps involved in lignin conversion.
