Natural or forced catalyst breakage is an important phenomenon during catalyst manufacture and regeneration. A two parameter model successfully predicts the reduction in length to diameter ratio of catalyst due to breakage by impulse forces experienced in a laboratory drop test irrespective of catalyst make-up or catalyst heat treatment.
