Fundamental Insights into Alkene Hydrogenation over Extended Transition Metal Surfaces

We have extended the investigation of the archetypal alkene hydrogenation reaction to include a broad subset of transition metals. In doing so we have uncovered, in atomistic detail, the factors which control activity (ethylene adsorption and desorption), and crucially, those which have little role to play (hydrogenation barriers, surface migration).
