This study describes an adaptable method to prepare nanoporous carbons supporting metal nanoparticles resulting from the carbonization and carbothermal reduction of metal-modified IRMOFs. The carbothermal reduction temperature and metal precursor can be varied to alter metal phase and performance of the resulting catalysts for the liquid-phase conversion of biomass model compounds.
