In CO₂ reduction, the adsorbed CO with normal frequency is not stable and contributes to CO production. The CO with lower frequency is more stable and is the intermediate to CH_4.Formate is formed through bicarbonate and adsorbed CO, and found to be the poison in the formation of CH₄.
