Key vehicle operating conditions for three-way-catalyst (TWC) N2O formation have been observed at low temperatures 400ºC-500ºC, high space velocity, and high NOx flux events.  Opportunity exists to redesign TWC precious metal content.  Contrary to Rh performance, Pd and Pt was sensitive to CO inhibition and resulted in N2O formation over a broad temperature range.
