Continuous replacement of cracking catalyst leads to an exponential residence time distribution.  Activity and selectivity varies within that distribution.   A novel test method is demonstrated which reproduces these effects.  An example shows improved agreement with refinery catalyst performance.  Deviations from ideal kinetics render the method semiquantitative in its initial form.
