O-F-A-3 WITHDRAWN Synthesis of Lactates from C6 Sugars Using Alkali-Promoted Stannosilicates

It is possible to convert C6 sugars in methanol to methyl lactate using Sn-Beta as the catalyst. It has been found that addition of small amounts of alkali increases the selectivity towards lactates, and up to 75% methyl lactate can be obtained from sucrose.
