In this work, in situ XPS studies show that the reducible Cr^Ⅵ and oxidizable Cr^Ⅲ play an important role in the ODHP reaction and the chemical state evolution from Cr^Ⅲand Cr^Ⅵ to Cr^Ⅴ lead to catalytic activity loses.
