This study investigates the factors that determine the catalytic activity in catalytic soot oxidation. This include investigations of the importance of catalyst surface area, the importance of the oxygen bond strength on the catalyst, the importance of the gas atmosphere and the role of the intimacy of the soot/catalyst contact.
