A method to controllably deposit Pt particles either on the zeolite or the alumina phase of industrially relevant extrudates is presented. Besides loading and dispersion, the relative location of the Pt (de)hydrogenation and the zeolite cracking function was shown to have tremendous impact on catalyst activity and selectivity for hydrocracking.
