PNNL has evaluated one way to reduce the cost for MTG by combining the methanol and MTG syntheses in a single reactor. Here, the objective was to evaluate potential composite catalyst systems and optimize the reaction conditions to convert syngas into hydrocarbons fuels through the use of mixed alcohols intermediates.
