Glycerol hydrogenolyis is an interesting alternative for improving biodiesel process sustainability. Ruthenium catalysts are active for glycerol hydrogenolysis and can be selective for hydrocarbons and other degradation products. In this work, the addition of copper improved the 1,2 propanediol selectivity of ruthenium catalysts for the glycerol hydrogenolysis.
