This study investigated three vanadium based catalysts for oxidation of lignin to carboxylic acids especially maleic anhydride. Different tested catalysts not only affected amount of lignin conversion but also has a considerable effect on kind of carboxylic acid. Vanadyl pyrophosphate was the most effective catalyst in production of maleic anhydride.
