We report results showing that the presence of SiO₂ allowed a significant enhancement on C2+ alcohol selectivity on a 15%Co/CeO₂.SiO₂catalyst. This work indicates that the reducibility of the support (in this case, CeO₂) seems to be key to the enhancement of the selectivity toward higher valued alcohols in Fischer Tropsch synthesis.
