Minor addition of lanthana, 0.5 wt%, to iron-based high-temperature water-gas shift catalysts enhance their WGS activity and thermal stability. These observations are attributed to the facts that lanthana facilitates CO adsorption and stabilizes the iron-chromium spinel structure.
