Our illustration of fundamental mechanisms for the selective hydrogenolysis of THFA on Rh and ReOx-promoted Rh catalysts provide insights into the selective hydrogenolysis of cyclic ethers and polyols on different metal catalysts and guidance for the use of these catalysts for the selective deoxygenation of biomass to fuels and chemicals.
