Methanol oxidation reactions on Pt clusters exhibit three distinct kinetic regimes because the requirements for the kinetically-relevant CH3OH activation step and active-site structures vary as the coverages on Pt cluster surfaces undergo a dynamic transition from O* saturation, uncovered with intermediates, to CH3O* saturation.
