O-W-Jon-4 Atomically Resolved Imaging of Reaction Steps in Catalytic Conversion of Diols on TiO2(110)

Ethylene and propylene glycol chemistry on TiO2(110) was explored using scanning tunneling microscopy, temperature programmed desorption and density functional theory. Successive reaction steps and the surface site specific intermediates in the catalytic reactions leading to alkenes and aldehydes have been identified.
