Gasoline yields of up to 77% can be produced from the aqueous-phase hydrodeoxygenation of sorbitol by tuning the catalyst properties and modifying the reaction conditions. The bifunctional catalysts with bimetallic Pt-ReOx metal sites can be used to increase the reaction rate and produce targeted chemical products.
