Exploiting the Optical Properties of Copper Nanoparticles for Selective Epoxidation of Propene

To our knowledge, this is the first example of a switchable heterogeneous catalyst where visible light is used as the stimulus for switch in oxidation state of the catalyst and product selectivity. Also, the findings reported herein may pave the way towards the discovery of viable heterogeneous propylene epoxidation catalysts.
