A continuously flushed water-splitting system with on-line analysis was used to optimize the loading of hydrogen evolution co-catalysts on Ga2O3-based photocatalysts. A sequential photodeposition method is established, in which hydrogen evolution from sacrificial agent is monitored to determine the desired co-catalyst loading for the highest overall water splitting rates.
