A Study of Lewis Acidity on Group 3A Oxides

Group 3A group metal oxides showed a good linear correlation between alcohol dehydration barriers and carbenium-ion stabilities. There is a systematic shift in the barrier heights due to the differences in the Lewis acidity of these different oxides, as determined by the electronegativity of the metal cations.
