In a time-resolved manner, methanol conversion has been performed on zeolites HZSM5 and HY. Detailed product composition (selectivity) has been determined including “coke” on/in the catalyst. Controlling constraints in a pool of reactions are visualized. New reaction pathways – as ionic dehydrogenation – with methane as the co-product are discriminated.
