This work was to determine if there is an isotopic effect for adsorption for either H2 or D2 on the cobalt metal surface of a Fischer–Tropsch catalyst. Results indicate no significant isotopic partitioning on the cobalt surface and should not interfere with measurements of the IKIE during CO hydrogenation.
