Controlled racemization of enantiopure phenyl-ring-containing secondary alcohols was achieved by employing W110A secondary alcohol dehydrogenase from Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus (W110A TeSADH). Racemization of both enantiomers of alcohols accepted by W110A TeSADH with low or with reasonably high enantiomeric discrimination was achieved by this method.
