DRIFTS and mass spectrometry were employed to study isocyanate formation and reactivity. DRIFTS demonstrated that Ba-NCO is a critical intermediate during reduction of Ba nitrate with CO. Simultaneous MS results during isocyanate reaction with different gas species suggested the existence of two pathways for N2 formation during NOx reduction.
