This works represents a first step towards the application of microtechnology for distributed hydrogen production via aqueous phase reforming (APR) of biocarbohydrates. The improved mass transfer properties of microreactors resulted in a great increase of the productivities and hydrogen selectivity. This microreactor shows great potential for on demand hydrogen production.
