The aqueous phase partial oxidation (APPO) technology is used to deconstruct cellulosic biomass to generate organic acids using water and air as the reaction media over heterogeneous catalysts. The biomass derived C3-C5 carboxylic acids will then be upgraded into high quality transportation fuel consisting of primarily branched alkanes and aromatics.
