The oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) couples methane molecules to form ethane and ethylene. A less energy-intensive OCM process was developed exhibiting higher activity at a lower reaction temperature using a Na/W/Mn/Mg-Ti mixed oxide catalysts. The improved catalytic activity of the mixed oxide-supported catalysts is attributed to more active surface lattice O atoms.
