The selective hydrogenation of substituted aromatic nitrogroups is of special interest in the field of applied industrial catalysts and, in particular, for the fine chemicals and pharmaceutical industries. Iron modified platinum catalysts show improved selectivity over the existing commercial catalysts and without requiring environmentally hazardous modifiers.
