Keynote

The oxidation of glycerol to glycerate was investigated over Au catalysts in alkaline water and the reduction of glycerol to propanediols was studied over supported metals (Pt, Ru, Pt-Re) in water.  These examples illustrate the importance of catalyst composition as well as solution environment on polyol reactions.
