Tungstated zirconia is a robust solid acid catalyst that can isomerizes pentane at low temperatures.  To fully understand the tungstated zirconia solid acid catalysts it is important to characterize the catalysts under relevant reaction conditions using Raman, IR and UV-vis spectroscopy.
